Getting Ready

The Great American Road Trip planning started a year ago as something to look forward to. After the Virgin Island Adventure we needed to "get away" yet again.

With our 10th Anniversary (6/9/96) coming up and being married in Las Vegas it seemed like a no brainier to go back to LV. But just going to LV was not THAT exciting, it had to be different. Lets drive and see America.

My parents took driving vacations when I was a kid.  We went to the Rockies a couple times and Florida and the fond memories of my brother getting bit by a Whip Tail Scorpion and my mom getting infested with chiggers sends warm fuzzies of the fun times.

Or when we stopped at night in a deserted Georgia road late at night and my dad saying real soft but REAL stern "Get back in the car get back in the car", just seems exciting.

So DJ and I are taking off on yet another adventure but Las Vegas, WHY STOP THERE!! Let's go further (or lower).

Des Moines to Denver to somewhere in Utah to Las Vegas to Sedona to Cameron and then home, 14 days 5000+ miles.

We shorted the Las Vegas stay to 3 days. This is all funded on Poker Winnings so I'm not real excited about gambling in Las Vegas, it's not like it's something new - craps perhaps 

We're renewing our vows in Sedona the land of the Mystical vortex's and the USA Today's #1 most beautiful area in America. LOTS of photos coming up.

We purchased a new laptop so I'll be blogging all the way with photos and mishaps.

The itinerary looks like this.

June 2 drive 5ish hours after work on Friday to Des Moines, IA
June 3 Des Moines to Denver (10 hours)
June 4 Denver to somewhere in Utah (5 hours)
June 5 Somewhere in Utah to Las Vegas (Mirage) (5 hours)
June 8 LasVegas to Sedona (USA Today - Most beautiful area in America) (4 hours)
June 11 Sedona to Cameron AZ (2 hours)
June 12 Grand Canyon
June 13 Painted Desert and start home (25 hours)
June 15 home in time for golf league!

Stay tuned!
